Well, it has been a hugely busy time for Irish Diplomacy. We crossed back over the Sea of Cortez on a beautiful clear night and headed directly for Puerto Escondido. It really a gorgeous night. Crystal clear, just a sliver of moon, and stars galore. Also no wind, so it was yet another motoring night. Oh well. We have had some great sailing in the sea.
Once in Escondido, it was time for Kimberley to head off to Boston for meetings, and then to Kamloops for a break, while Bailey and I seemingly entered the twilight zone. That seems like a good name for Escondido. The day after we arrived there, TelMex, the company that owns the phone and Internet lines, so while I expected to be challenged for Internet in the boat yard, I wasn't expecting to step into a communications black hole, a total void. You can imagine how much fun that was.
In the yard, we kept very busy as well. The crew scraping the bottom right down to the gelcoat, and me scraping my knees ......sorry scraping the floor (it's called a sole in nautical terms) to bare wood for a new coat of varnish.
We thought we'd be out of the water 5 or 6 days, but it took a little longer than that....closer to 14, but then splashdown and we are back in the sea.
We made a journey from Escondido to La Paz one weekend with a stopover at Isla San Fransisco where the water was so clear, you could see the bottom even 50 feet down. Very cool, but alas, we didn't get to stay there very long as we needed to get to La Paz, and to good Internet again. Truly amazing how sideways a life can go when something you take for granted goes away.
We spent a few days at Marina Costa Baja and then out to Playa Pichilingue to hang on the hook for a while. Quite nice here. Quiet, good beach for Bailey and the boat seems quite settled in.
Monday we'll head into Marina de La Paz for a few weeks, but probably not much more than that.
So what are the future plans? That, as always, is anyone's guess. Cross the sea for Mazatlan? Head to Acupulco? We know we're in Puerto Vallarta for Christmas with our friends on the vessel Zeppelin and a host of other boats they have pulled together, and my Aunt and Uncle will be just down the street as well. Everybody sing! It's a small world after all! It's a small world after all!......
Now that we've got that song permeating your cerebellum like a computer virus in cyber space
