Let me start by saying thanks to those of you who have posted. It's nice to know I'm not just writing this for myself. Rick and Denise....Kimberley and I have often though of you two and wondered how you are doing and where you are.
So our time in La Cruz has come to an end. I'd say a turbulent end, but that would be too much a play on words. We left the day after the Tsunami triggered by Japan's earthquake. Boy do they have a long road back from that. In Banderas Bay though, while there was a bit of extra surge and some strong currents in the marinas, from what we understand everyone came though it largely unscathed. I know Marina Riviera Nayarit in La Cruz did suffer a little damage to a few docks, but my guess is they probably already have that repaired and everything is back to normal.
We had planned on heading further south this year, maybe Barra de Navidad, maybe further, but a technical issue has come up which has meant a change in plans. The bottom job we had done last October has some sort of chemical reaction going on which needs to be addressed, so now that needs to come off and get reapplied. So that means back to Puerto Escondido before we start making our way up the outside of the Baja. We hadn't planned on going into the sea this year, but, hopefully this will only be a short diversion and then back to our plans. Right now we're in Mazatlan and will be here for a few weeks, then over to La Paz the first weekend of April, and then on the 16th it's back to Escondido. Kate, Gordon.....leave a light on.
Starting to find now that just about everywhere we go, we're running into people we have met. Nice to be able to sit out on deck and catch up. When we pulled into La Paz, friends from My Vice, Rocinante and Sea Oak were all sitting here watching us come in (always a good show), then a few hours later, Mike off Tortue dropped by to invite us for his Saint Patrick's day do. Mike....excellent corned beef amigo.
I guess that is all for now. We'll update again after we get into La Paz on the 3rd or 4th of April.
And seeing as this is the Blog of Irish Diplomacy, I'm going to start posting those tongue in cheek Irish sayings. If you have one that can be posted, send it my way.
So to close today, an Irish wish: May you be half way to heaven before the devil knows your dead!
